Shahid Afridi's Sister Passes Away, Former Pakistan Captain Confirms

Shahid Afridi had shared the day before that his sister was seriously ill and battling for her life.

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi shared the news of his sister's passing on October 17 (Tuesday). Afridi took to his social media to inform the public that his sister had been fighting for her life in a hospital in Karachi. Afridi had decided to travel back to Karachi to be by her side a day before but she tragically lost her battle with illness on Tuesday. Afridi also announced the details of his sister's funeral on X (formerly Twitter).

"Surely we belong to Allah and to him we shall return. With Heavy hearts we inform you that our beloved Sister passed away and her Namaz e Janazah will be at 17.10.2023 after Zuhur prayer at Zakariya masjid main 26th street Khayaban e Ghalib DHA," a part of Afridi's tweet wrote in a tweet.

The day before, on Monday, Shahid Afridi had shared that his sister was seriously ill and battling for her life. The renowned all-rounder reached out to his followers on social media, requesting their prayers for her recovery.

"I am travelling back to see you soon my love stay strong My sister is fighting for her life right now. I request you to make Duas for her health, will mean a lot. May Allah give her speedy recovery and a long healthy life Ya Rabb," he mentioned in his tweet.


A multitude of fans and well-wishers responded to Afridi's message, offering prayers for his sister.

One of the sympathetic voices was former international Pakistan bowler Sohail Tanveer, who tweeted, "Allah jannat atta farmaye aur apko logon ko sabar dey 🤲🤲🤲" (May Allah grant her heaven and grant you and your family patience).

Shahid Afridi, a highly successful figure in Pakistan cricket, had an illustrious career in the limited overs format. He represengted the Men in Green in 398 ODIs, 27 Tests and 99 T20Is, making his debut in 1998.
