Rohit Sharma clears Yo-Yo test, confirms on social media

Rohit took the test on June 19 at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru

Rohit Sharma, Indian cricket team’s vice-captain in limited-over format, has cleared the Yo-Yo fitness test and is all set to play in the forthcoming series against Ireland and England.

Rohit took the test on June 19 at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. At the same time, Ajinkya Rahane was put on standby as several reports claimed that Rohit failed the fitness test twice during the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

However, Rohit himself made this announcement on social media. The 31-year-old took to his Instagram handle to share his picture where he wrote, “Yo-Yo ✔️ See you shortly Ireland”.

The YoYo test has become and essential parameter to define the fitness of a player ahead of any tour or series. The BCCI has been emphasising on this policy which has also resulted ousting of several players despite carrying a good form.

After Mohammad Shami and Sanju Samson, the recent addition to the pool of players failing this test was Ambati Rayudu who lost his place in Indian squad for forthcoming ODI series against England.

He has been replaced by Indian veteran Suresh Raina who made his comeback after almost three years.
