Rising Pune Supergiants change team name ahead of IPL 2017

New Delhi: With just days left for the 10th version of the Indian Premier League, the tournament’s youngest baby has decided to change its name. Rising Pune Supergiants have dropped ‘S’ from their name and will now be known as Rising Pune Supergiant.

No specific reason has been mentioned by the team management for sudden change but according to sources, the owners wanted to change the way the team was projected this season.

Earlier, the Supergiant owners had axed MS Dhoni from captaincy to replace him with Australia skipper Steve Smith for the 10th season.

In the 9th edition, Pune could only manage to win 5 games and finished the season on seventh position.
