Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill Continue To Inflict Misery On Bangladesh After Najmul Hossain Shanto Drops A Sitter | VIDEO
Rishabh Pant got a life on 72 and post that has continued to inflict misery on Bangladesh along with Shubman Gill.
India have taken a firm control in the ongoing 1st Test against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. While the hosts did look in a spot of bother when they were asked to bat first and reduced to 144/6 at one stage, a 199-run stand between Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja paved the way for India's recovery. Ashwin's hundred and Jadeja's 86 meant India ended up posting 376 runs in the first innings and now India's struggles seem to be a thing of the past.
The Men in Blue then bowled out Bangladesh for 149, led by speedster Jasprit Bumrah's four-wicket haul. India took a 227-run first innings lead but decided not to enforce the follow in. The hosts have since then put their foot on the accelerator and have been piling on runs with Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant being at the forefront of India's scoring so far, both nearing their individual hundreds as India go to Lunch On Day 3 at 205/3.

Bangladesh did have their opportunity to break the stand though, which has now added over 100 runs, but the Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto ended up dropping an easy catch which have Pant a life. Shakib Al Hasan would have got a wicket had the catch been taken with the fielding running in from long on but instead Bangladesh's frustratuon continued with Pant getting a reprieve on 72.

Rishabh Pant Playing 1st Test In Over 600 Days
It is pertinent to note that Pant is playing his 1st Test in over 600 Days. In December 2022, Pant had a near-fatal car crash which ruled him out of cricket action for over an year. This is his first Test match after fully recovering from that injury and he has looked in great nick after an impressive glovework in the Bangladesh innings.
