Thieves Break Into Former Australian Captain Ricky Ponting's House In Melbourne, Steal His Car From Driveway

New Delhi: Former captain of the Australian cricket team Ricky Ponting and his family were targeted by thieves at his bayside residence in Melbourne last week, according to Australian media. As per report, Ponting along with his wife and three children were at his home on Friday night when thieves broke into the highly protected property and managed to steal Ponting's car which was reportedly parked in the driveway.
As per media reports, the theft resulted into a significant Police action which was carried out as soon as the incident was reported. While the former cricketer and his family members are safe, Police had launched an extensive search operation to track the stolen car.
According to reports, a special Operation Group along with the Airwing were tasked to find the missing car. The report also added that the stolen car was traced when it was being driven by a group of men in Melbourne. Two men who were spotted escaping Ponting's property are yet to be caught.
The incident took place when Ponting was on a break and spending time with family after his commentary assignment in the Big Bash League and India's tour of Australia. Currently, Ricky Ponting holds the record of scoring most runs in his 100th test match (263 runs with 120 and 143 not out against South Africa).
The former Australia captain has smashed as many as 13,378 runs in 168 Test matches with a batting average of 51.85 and 13,704 runs in 375 One Day Internationals (ODIs) at an average of 42.03.
