As many as five matches will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

Bengaluru: In preparation for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has initiated necessary renovation efforts at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. This refurbishment is crucial as the stadium is set to host five matches during the tournament, scheduled for October and November.

Following a recent inspection by a team sent by the International Cricket Council (ICC), essential renovations such as stand refurbishment, installation of new seats and restroom renewal have been underway. Raghuram Bhatt, the President of KSCA, emphasized the aim to provide optimal facilities, highlighting the already top-notch amenities present at the venue.

Bengaluru, the host city, is slated to witness some exciting clashes, including Australia vs Pakistan (October 20), England vs Sri Lanka (October 26), New Zealand vs Pakistan (November 4), New Zealand vs Sri Lanka (November 9), and India vs Netherlands (November 12) matches during the T20 World Cup.

Following the inspection, the ICC members expressed contentment with the venue's preparedness, suggesting only minor adjustments to the existing facilities.

Beyond the World Cup, KSCA's calendar is brimming with activity, as numerous international and national teams are expected to convene in the city for off-season training. Notably, the UP Warriorz of the WPL concluded a week-long training stint, while state teams from Gujarat, Baroda, and Chhattisgarh are also set to engage in practice matches in the coming weeks.

Addressing the high demand, KSCA President Raghuram Bhatt revealed plans to expand the state's cricketing venues. Future stadium locations have been identified in Kolar, Hasan, Mangalore, and Karvar, with development plans advancing rapidly.

In a bid to uphold the integrity of the sport, KSCA Vice-President Sampath Kumar announced that the upcoming KSCA T20 tournament, scheduled from August 13 to 29, will be closely monitored by the BCCI's Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU). ACU officials, including a chief officer, will oversee the tournament and the participating teams to ensure the event maintains the highest standards of fair play and integrity.
