'Longest 48 Hours Of Our Lives': Ashwin's Wife Reacts After Spinner Rejoins India Squad After Health Emergency In Family
Ashwin's wife Prithi Narayanan took to social media to share a post after India beat England by 434 runs in the third Test at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.
In a remarkable display of commitment to the team and worth ethic, veteran India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin returned to join his India teammates on Day 4 of the India vs England third Test at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Sunday (February 18). Ashwin came back less than 48 hours after he had withdrawn from the match due to a health emergency in the family. However, once everything was taken care of he was back in India colours and picking wickets for India.
Hours after the conclusion of the third Test, which India ended up winning by a record margin of 434 runs, Ashwin's wife Prithi Narayanan took to social media to share a post, calling the last two days the longest 48 hours of the couple's lives.
While Ashwin got to the 500-wicket milestone on Day 2 of the Test and attended a press conference after the end of the day's play, late that night the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed that Ashwin has opted out. The 37-year-old returned to take a wicket in the second innings as India bowled England out for 122 in the second innings after having handed them a target of 557 runs to win.
A Lot Happened Between Ashwin's Wicket Number 500 and 501: Prithi Narayanan
While not mentioning the specific details, Prithi did mention that a lot had happened between Ashwin's wicket number 500 and 501 in Test cricket.
"We chased the 500 to Hyderabad, it didn't happen. To Vizag, it didn't happen. So I just bought a ton of sweets and gave it to everyone at home at 499. 500 came and went quietly. Till it didn't. A lot happened between 500 and 501. Longest 48hours of our lives," Prithi captioned a picture of the star cricketer.

"But this is about the 500. And the 499 before that. What a phenomenal achievement. What a phenomenal guy. I am insanely proud of you @rashwin99 We love you," she added.
While the Board had requested respect for Ashwin's privacy and not mentioned the netty gritty in its official release, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla, however, did put out a post on X, wishing a speedy recovery to the spinner's mother, saying that the cricketer had flown to Chennai to be with his mother.
