New Delhi: The West Indian duo of Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard were at their brutal best to lead the Karachi Kings to a six wicket win in a rain-curtailed match of the Pakistan Super League.

Dubai was hit by ‘Gayle Storm’. The swashbuckling left hander smashed 44 runs off just 17 balls before his countryman Pollard provided the finishing touches.

Put into bat, The Islamabad United reached 123 for 6 in their allotted 15 overs . Dwayne Smith top scored with a 36 ball 49.

In reply, Karachi got off to a flying start courtesy Chris Gayle. Gayle launched a no holds barred attack on the premiere bowlers of Islamabad. Gayle hit Saeed Ajmal for three consecutive sixes in the sixth over.

There was no respite for Mohammad Irfan also, who was deposited for a couple of huge sixes over mid-wicket.

Earlier it was Pollard’s heroics in the field that brought Karachi back into the game. The tall all rounder took as many as four catches and then went to hit the winning boundary for his side.

Karachi Kings were through to the play offs after this victory and Islamabad were ousted from the tournament.
