Pakistan Will Again Host Matches In Future: PCB CEO Wasim Khan
Pakistan and Sri Lanka are scheduled to face each other in three ODIs and three T20Is, at Karachi and Lahore, with the first ODI starting on Friday
Ahead of the Pakistan vs Sri Lanka series, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) CEO Wasim Khan expressed his gratitude towards the touring Sri Lankan side by saying he was extremely grateful to Sri Lanka for honouring the commitment to play a bilateral series in Pakistan. Both nations are scheduled to face each other in three ODIs and three T20Is, at Karachi and Lahore, with the first ODI starting on Friday.
“We are extremely grateful to Sri Lanka for honouring the commitment to play a bilateral series in Pakistan," Khan said while talking to private news channel.
CEO Wasim Khan credited Pakistan Super League (PSL) for improving the world's perception about the security situation in Pakistan. He also said he was pretty confident about Pakistan hosting its home matches at their home turf itself in the near future.
"We have decided that we will play our matches in Pakistan," Khan said.
"Pakistan is safe and all security reports have suggested that security risks are manageable in the country," Wasim was quoted as saying by Geo.tv,
CEO Khan also stressed that it was extremely important for Pakistan to start hosting tournaments on home soil as the Board (PCB) had to bare a huge expense by hosting matches in the UAE.
"It costs us a lot of money hosting there. Security is fine in Pakistan, this is now our home venue. Bilateral series against Sri Lanka is important, and let me tell you that we are not paying them any extra money. They're coming here for 13 days. Things are going in right direction for us," Khan said.
"Our focus was to get Sri Lanka here and which we have done successfully. The players who are coming to Pakistan have a point to prove, we must not underestimate the players who are coming. It is going to be a highly competitive series," Khan opined.
