MUST WATCH: Lara, Ponting smash sixes but Legends XI lose

New Delhi: The 2016 edition of the Festival of Cricket saw the Perth Scorchers beat the Australia Legends XI by 7 wickets at Aquinas College thanks to a breathtaking 75 off 30 balls of Mitchell Marsh.

The Legends XI comprising of greats like Rickey Ponting, Brian Lara, and Mitchell Johson, led by Adam Gilchrist scored 174 for 5 batting first. Rickey Ponting scored a seamless 52 off 39 balls and was ably supported by Caribbean legend Brian lara, who hit a few towering sixes.

Lara, however, could not match his blistering innings he had played in the previous edition where he slammed as many as 6 sixes.

The Western Asutralian Cricket Association came with the concept of festival-style cricket for the entertainment of a cricket hungry nation and the inaugural edition in 2013 saw fantastic response. Since then it has been an annual cricket event.
