New Delhi: Gautam Gambhir and Chris Lynn shared the highest ever opening partnership in chasing a target in the history of IPL as Kolkata Knight Riders thrashed Gujarat Lions by 10 wickets at Rajkot.

Gambhir and Lynn shared an unbroken opening stand of 184 to knock off the target in 14.5 overs.

Chirs Lynn who scored his maiden half century in IPL, slammed 93 off 41 with as many as 8 sixes and 4 boundaries to decimate the Gujarat attack, which lacked the zip of Bravo and the guile of Jadeja.

KKR captain Gautam Gambhir on the other hand was a class apart. While Lynn was clearing the ropes with utmost ease, Gambhir was peppering the boundary on a regular basis. Gambhir scored 76 off 48 with 12 boundaries.

Knight Riders raced away to 73 in the first six overs – their best ever in IPL.

Earlier, put in to bat Gujarat set a 184 run target riding on the back of captain Suresh Raina (68) and Dinesh karthik (47).

For KKR, Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2 for 25, which included the important wickets of McCullum (35) and Finch (15).
