Prabhsimran, Iyer Shine As PBKS Secure Comfortable 8-Wicket Win Over LSG

This victory marks Punjab Kings' second consecutive win in the tournament.

A dominant all-round performance from Punjab Kings, highlighted by Prabhsimran Singh's 29 off 34 balls and a composed knock from Shreyas Iyer (30-ball 52*), secured a comfortable 8-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants in their IPL 2025 clash at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

This victory marks Punjab Kings' second consecutive win in the tournament.

Chasing 172, Punjab Kings lost Priyansh Arya early at 26 runs. Priyansh managed just 8 off 9 balls before Digvesh Singh dismissed him. However, Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer steadied the innings with an 84-run stand for the second wicket. Digvesh struck again, removing Prabhsimran for 39 off 34 balls, which included 9 fours and 3 sixes.

After Prabhsimran's departure, Shreyas Iyer carried on to score a brilliant half-century, while Nehal Wadhera provided solid support with an unbeaten 43 off 25 balls. Together, they ensured Punjab Kings chased down 172 comfortably in just 16.2 overs.

LSG posts 171/7 in 20 overs after being invited to bat first

Lucknow Super Giants played their first home match of IPL 2025 at Ekana Stadium, posting a total of 171/7 in 20 overs after being sent in to bat first.

LSG had a shaky start, losing opener Mitchell Marsh for a golden duck. Aiden Markram showed some resistance with a 28-run knock, but captain Rishabh Pant’s struggles continued as he managed just 2 runs off 5 balls. Lucknow managed just 39/3 in the powerplay as their top-order failed miserably. Punjab Kings' bowlers kept the pressure on, preventing LSG from gaining momentum in the crucial opening overs.

Nicholas Pooran provided much-needed stability, scoring 44 off 30 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Ayush Badoni played a valuable innings of 41 off 33 balls, hitting 3 sixes and a four, while David Miller contributed 19 off 18. Abdul Samad's late cameo of 27 runs (2 sixes, 2 fours) helped LSG push their total to 171/7.

Arshdeep Singh shines for Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings' bowlers kept things tight, consistently striking at key moments. Arshdeep Singh led the attack with 3 wickets, while Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Maxwell, Marco Jansen, and Yuzvendra Chahal chipped in with a wicket each, restricting LSG from putting up a bigger total.
