Kerala Floods: Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi provides 5000 camps for victims

Amid the bitter diplomatic conditions between India and Pakistan, a great step has been taken by Javed Afridi.

Kerala, God’s own country, is facing the worst floods in 100 years which have taken at least 370 lives and displaced over 800,000 people. Currently, the state is receiving help from different parts of the globe. While a few current and former Indian cricketers have come out for help, people from the Pakistan cricket fraternity have also joined them for the noble cause.

Javed Afridi, the CEO and chairman of Peshawar Zalmi (a cricket team which participates in the Pakistan Super League), has extended his help for the victims of the floods. Afridi took to his official Twitter handle to announce that his team and charity foundation would like to “donate 5000 tents and basic medical supplies”.

Here’s the tweet:

Amid the bitter diplomatic conditions between India and Pakistan, a great step has been taken by Javed Afridi.

A few days ago, Indian cricketer Sanju Samson made a generous donation of Rs 15 lakh to Kerala’s Chief Minister Relief Fund.

Overseas cricketers with the likes of DJ Bravo and AB de Villiers also urged their fans and followers on social media to pray and step forward to help.

Following the devastating floods, over one million people are now sheltered in 3,274 relief camps in Kerala. However, Monday did see some people return to their homes from camps in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram and parts of Pathanamthitta after volunteers working selflessly helped to clean up their muddy homes.
