It’s the darkest day of my life: Mihali Raj on Powar's charges on attitude

Responding to Coach Ramesh Powar's allegations, veteran cricketer Mithali Raj took to twitter to post a brief statement on her official Twitter page on Thursday as she wrote, “It’s the darkest day of my life."

"I'm deeply saddened & hurt by the aspersions cast on me. My commitment to the game & 20yrs of playing for my country," she wrote.

"The hard work, sweat, in vain. Today, my patriotism doubted, my skill set questioned & all the mud slinging- it's the darkest day of my life. May god give strength," she added.

According to some media reports, Ramesh Powar had earlier said that Mithali threatened retirement over a batting position, threw tantrums and created chaos in the side during the World T20.

However, Powar has strongly denied the contents in some media reports on his meeting with the BCCI officials.

Taking to Twitter, Powar said, "I was shocked to read PTI story about my meeting with the BCCI officials. I totally deny the contents in the story."

Reportedly, after meeting BCCI CEO Rahul Johri and General Manager Saba Karim on Wednesday, Powar had e-mailed his report to the duo.

According to media reports, Powar had stated that he always found Mithali "aloof and difficult to handle".

The war of words started with Mithali alleging that Powar was out to destroy her, intensified on Wednesday when the coach, in his tour report, questioned her conduct during the tournament in the West Indies.

The 40-year-old Powar's interim tenure comes to an end on Friday.

Even though he will be free to apply for the post when fresh applications are invited, there is little chance that he will be retained owing to the ongoing controversy.
