IPL 2020: It was a stunning match last night and both Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals played brilliant knocks to win the game, though Shikar Dhawan's maiden IPL 2020 century powered Shreyas Iyer led Delhi Capitals to emerge victorious by defeating Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets.

While experts have been talking about different turning points in the match especially Dhawan being saved 4 times during the match, what has led to a major controversy is CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's decision to hand over the last over to Ravindra Jadeja instead of death over expert Dwayne Bravo and brilliant leg spinner Karn Sharma.

MS Dhoni's decision perplexed fans and even the cricket analysts as there were two left-handers at the crease in the form of Shikhar Dhawan and Axar Patel. Dhawan made a fantastic 100 in the game, while Axar Patel played a brilliant cameo of 21 to ensure that DC beat CSK by five wickets.

However, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni revealed that a fitness concern for Dwayne Bravo meant he couldn't bowl the final over in Chennai's last over defeat to Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Sharjah on Saturday.

Dhoni turned to Ravindra Jadeja with Delhi needing 17 off the final over. Axar Patel hit three sixes to seal a five-wicket win.

"Bravo was not fit, he went out and was really not able to come back," said Dhoni. "That was the reason we had to bowl (Jadeja). The option was between Karn [Sharma] and Jaddu so I went ahead with Jaddu. Maybe not enough."

"Shikhar's wicket was important but we dropped him quite a few times. If he keeps batting, he will keep the strike rate high. Also, the wicket played better in the second half, but we can't take the credit away from Shikhar," said the CSK captain.

In the last two overs, Delhi Capitals needed 21 runs but Sam Curran bowled brilliantly and gave away just four runs. However, a final over cameo by Axar which saw him whacking three sixes helped Delhi Capitals chase the target with one ball to spare Dhawan had also survived a scare on 99 in the penultimate over.

The on-field umpire gave him out but he went for a review straight away and the replay confirmed that there was no edge.

After a slow start, CSK posted 179 on the board. "There wasn't a lot of dew, but there was just enough to make the pitch better. That makes a big difference: minus 10 when you are batting, and the extra 10 for the team batting second," said Dhoni.

Delhi Capitals is now at the pole position of the IPL 2020 points table after scoring 2 crucial points against Chennai Super Kings.
