IPL 2020: Domestic Powerhouses Karnataka, Mumbai, Delhi Continue To Field Bulk Of Cricketers In Season 13 At UAE
IPL 13 in the UAE is once again witnessing Indian cricketers from powerhouses like Mumbai, Delhi and Karnataka lock horn with their counterparts from states who are giving the domestic giants a run for their money.
Over a decade since its inception in 2008, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has shrunk the cricketing boundaries across the nation and extended the expanse of Indian cricket to newer pastures.
While the traditional staples and breeding grounds of Indian cricket in Mumbai, Karnataka, Delhi and Tamil Nadu continue to breed and groom bulk of the talent who look to have the skill and pedigree to don the Blue Jersey for Team India, it has been very heartening to see how cricketing prodigies from the relatively unknown towns have come through the ranks and made a mark in the marquee Indian Premier League.
While, the Rohits and Rahanes from Mumbai, the Kohli, Dhawans and Pants from Delhi and the Ashwins and Karthiks from TN continue to be the poster boys in the Indian Premier League (IPL); MS Dhoni from Jharkhand, Ravindra Jadeja from Kutch and Sanju Samson from Kerala are prominent examples of small town stars rubbing horns and competing fiercely with the big town boys in this T20 carnival and become cricketing icons and role models for budding cricketers in their own state.
The biggest positive of the Indian Premier League is having cricketers from the so called 'non-cricketing' states like Abdul Samad (Jammu and Kashmir) and Riyan Parag (Assam) roped in by the franchises in the IPL auction and feature alongside the T20 stalwarts from both Indian and the world in the marquee T20 league. This fine blend of cricketers coming form the domestic powerhouses and has worked wonders for the future of Indian cricket
IPL 13 in the UAE is once again witnessing Indian cricketers from powerhouses like Mumbai, Delhi, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu lock horn with their counterparts from states who are giving the domestic giants a run for their money. While some of the state team mates will share the dressing room play on the same sides, others will battle it out with their own state comrades in this fascinating T20 carnival
