India Vs Sri Lanka Series 'To Be Rescheduled' As Covid Cases Rise In SL Camp
India vs Sri Lanka: The start of the series is likely to be delayed due to rising concerns over Covid-19 in the Sri Lankan camp.
Colombo: India vs Sri Lanka series is likely to be postponed in the light of two positive Covid-19 cases found in Sri Lanka's support staff. As of now, the series is scheduled to begin on the 13th of July.
India is currently on a tour of Sri Lanka and is set to play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. Now as per sources informing ABP News, the series can be pushed back by a few days because of Covid positive cases in the island nation's cricket camp. SLC and BCCI are working on the new dates and an official announcement is to be made soon.
Two members of the Sri Lankan cricket team's support staff, including batting coach Grant Flower, have tested positive for coronavirus. The other person to get affected is the team analyst GT Niroshan. The concerning thing about it is that both of them have been affected by the Delta variant of Covid-19 which is a new 'variant of concern'.

Probable dates of the India Vs Sri Lanka series:
- 1st ODI - 17th July.
- 2nd ODI - 19th July.
- 3rd ODI - 21st July
- 1st T20i - 24th July.
- 2nd T20i - 25th July.
- 3rd T20i - 27th July.
None of the Sri Lankan players has been affected, so far. But as a precautionary measure, all of the SL players are in quarantine at a hotel in Colombo."The Data Analyst of the Sri Lanka National Team, G. T. Niroshan, has tested positive for Covid 19," Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said in a statement.
"He was found to be positive, following a PCR Test carried out among the National Players, Coaches, and Support Staff yesterday, following the identification of Grant Flower as Covid Positive," the statement further added.
Team India is under the leadership of the new captain Shikhar Dhawan. Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the coach of the Indian side for the series.
