6,000 Cops To Turn Gujarat Stadium Into Fortress As PM Modi Turns Up To Cheer For India Against Oz On Sunday

Ind vs Aus World Cup Final: The Ahmedabad Police have made tight security arrangements ahead of the World Cup Final between India and Australia.

India Vs Australia World Cup Final: Ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup Final between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, tight security arrangements have been made by the city police to ensure smooth conduct of the match. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles are set to attend the final match on Sunday, news agency PTI reported, citing officials.

Elaborating on the arrangements, Ahmedabad Commissioner of Police GS Malik said that over 6,000 police personnel would be deployed, of which 3,000 would be inside the ground. Apart from this, he further stated that two NDRF teams, two Chetak Commando teams, and 10 teams of the Bomb Disposal Squad would be deployed to ensure full security, as many dignitaries would arrive at the venue to witness the ultimate clash.

"All preparations have been completed by the  police regarding the World Cup final to be played between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium. We have done very elaborate and detailed planning for this. Over 3,000 police personnel would be deployed inside the stadium, including a company of the RAF. Total, over 6,000 police personnel would be deployed, apart from this two NDRF teams, two Chetak Commando teams, 10 teams of Bomb Disposal Squad would be deployed," GS Malik said, as quoted by PTI.

The police said that the metro would be operational until 1 a.m. Malik made a request from the people to make maximum use of the metro for commuting on the day of the match because, aside from security, traffic is also a challenge as more than 1,00,000 spectators are expected to reach the venue. He further said that improvements have been made in the arrangements based on previous experiences.

"Indian PM (Narendra Modi) will come to watch the Cricket World Cup Final between India and Australia (tomorrow)," Malik said.

On black marketing of tickets, ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup Final, Malik said, "As soon as the police get information on this, they do an investigation... They are working proactively on this... Until now, we have not caught any duplicate tickets. If such a thing happens during the match, the police will do the investigation as per law."
