IND vs NZ 3rd Test: Ajaz Patel Helps New Zealand Bowl Out India For 263 In Mumbai, Rohit Sharma & Co. Lead By 28 Runs

IND vs NZ 3rd Test: Ajaz Patel's sixth five-wicket haul in Tests helped New Zealand bundle India out for 263 runs in the second innings of the IND vs NZ match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

New Zealand bowled India out for 263 runs in the second innings of the ongoing India vs New Zealand 3rd Test at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Day 2 of the match. India secured the lead of 28 runs on a pitch that has so far offered much assistance to the spinners. New Zealand's left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel claimed his career's sixth Test fifer as he claimed the figures of 5-103.

After commanding the most of time on Day 1 of the IND vs NZ Test in Mumbai, India ended the day poorly as they lost three quick wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj and Virat Kohli in quick succession to finish on 86-4 after the day's play.

However, batters on crease — Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill — made a positive start on Day 2 and got India’s scoring rate significantly up. Both the batters dealt in regular boundaries and New Zealand bowlers could not even get the Indian batters to give a half-chance even.

However, both batters offered New Zealand a chance when catches were dropped off the bowling of Glenn Phillips as Mark Chapman dropped Gill and Matt Henry dropped Pant.

Fifties From Pant & Gill Propel India Into Slender Lead

Pant eventually got dismissed on 60 but Gill ensured that India got near to wiping off New Zealand's lead. He missed out on his century by 10 runs as Ajaz Patel dismissed him for 90. Washington Sundar made a quickfire 38-run knock to ensure that India got a slender lead of 28 runs before India's last wicket fell in form of a run-out of Akash Deep.

For the unversed, India have already lost the IND vs NZ Test series as Tom Latham and co. lead the series by 2-0. However, India are looking to avoid their first clean-sweep in a home Test sereis in over 24 years, with the last being back in 2000.
