IND vs WI, Match Highlights: Kuldeep Yadav's 4/6 Helps India Thrash West Indies In ODI Series Opener

IND vs WI, Match Highlights: India were dominant with the ball and even though they lost a few more wickets than they would have liked they completed their run-chase comprehensively in the end.

IND vs WI, 1st ODI Highlights: India beat West Indies by 5 wickets in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown in Barbados on Thursday (July 27). While the visitors won the toss and elected to field first, they managed to bowl out the home team for just 114 in 23 overs. Even though captain Rohit Sharma introduced Kuldeep Yadav a bit late into the attack, he emerged as the team's pick of the bowlers wrapping up West Indies' lower order in a jiffy and eventually finishing with figures of 4/6.

It was a great day at the office for Kuldeep's spin bowling partner Ravindra Jadeja who returned with figures of 3/37. The foundation though was set by the seamers with Shardul Thakur, Hardik Pandya with a couple of wickets each. Debutant Kumar also had a solitary wicket to his credit. For West Indies, their captain Shai Hope ended up top-scoring with 43 but only three other batters managed to produce a score in double figures- Brandon King (17), Alick Athanaze (22) and Shimron Hetmyer (11).

In the run-chase, India came in with a different batting order with Shubman Gill opening the innings with Ishan Kishan. Suryakumar Yadav came in at number 3 while Hardik Pandya was the next man in the order. Ravindra Jadeja (16*) walked in at number 5 with captain Rohit Sharma and senior batter Virat Kohli perhaps pushing themselves down the order to have a look at what the other batters have to offer. Rohit finally came in to bat at number 7 and remained unbeaten on 12. Kishan (52) was the stand out performer for India with a bat, scoring a half-century and playing a pivotal role in helping the visitors finish off the match with 27.1 overs to spare.

Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav failed to leave an impact falling to Jayden Seales and Gudakesh Motie respectively while Hardik Pandya would consider himself unlucky with the way he got out with the ball ricocheting off the bowler's hands and hitting the stumps at the non-striker's end. Gudakesh Motie was the most effective bowler for West Indies, scalping 2 wickets for 26 runs.
