IND vs BAN, 2nd Test: 'Spirit Of Cricket' - Indian Physio Attends Injured Bangla Batsman | Watch
Since the Bangladesh physio was busy attending Liton Das, Kohli signalled Nitin Patel without any delay
The Indian team portrayed one of the best examples of sportsmanship on the opening day of the historic pink-ball Test at the Eden Gardens. Kohli & Co garnered immense respect after Indian physiotherapist Nitin Patel was seen attending Bangladesh's Nayeem Hasan on Friday.
The incident happened in the 23rd over of the Bangladesh innings when Nayeem received a nasty blow on his helmet from Mohammed Shami. The Indian fielders rushed to the batsman to know his condition.
Since the Bangladesh physio was busy attending Liton Das, who was retired hurt earlier in a similar fashion, Kohli had a little chat with the on-field umpire and signalled Patel without any delay.
Here’s the video:
Later, Bangladesh physio also joined the player in the middle. While Liton Das was substituted by Mehidy Hasan due to concussion earlier, Nayeem decided to stay on and bat. He was cleaned up by Ishant Sharma for 19, as Bangladesh were bundled out for 106 in the first innings. The ongoing day-night Test between India and Bangladesh witnessed an incident that highlighted the spirit of cricket as the Indian physio Nitin Patel was seen attending to Bangladesh's Nayeem Hasan. The red-hot Indian pace battery ran through the fragile Bangladesh batting like a hot knife through butter, before Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli eased to typically classy half-centuries as India reached 174/3 at stumps on Day 1.In the end, it's all about the #SpiritOfCricket.#TeamIndia physio, Mr. Nitin Patel attends to Nayeem after he gets hit on the helmet.#PinkBallTest pic.twitter.com/pFXsUfXAUY
