IND vs AUS, Perth: India bowled Australia out for 104 runs in the second innings of the India vs Australia 1st Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 on November 23 (Saturday) at Perth’s Optus Stadium. After Australia bowled India for just 150 runs in the first innings, India’s stand-in captain, Jasprit Bumrah, walked the talk as he bagged a five-wicket haul and led India’s charge to great effect, helping the team secure a 46-run lead.
Australia resumed from the overnight score of 67-7, with the wicket-keeper batter Alex Carey and pacer Mitchell Starc on the crease and could only add three runs before losing another wicket. Bumrah, having already claimed four wickets, bagged his fifth by eliminating Carey on the first ball of his first over of Day 2 to reduce Australia to 70-8.
Harshit Rana bagged the wicket of Nathan Lyon before Starc and Josh Hazlewood forged a frustrating partnership of 25 runs against India to bring the visitor's lead under 50 runs. However, Rana drew curtains on Australia's innings as he claimed the wicket of Starc.

Pace Dominates As 17 Wickets Fall On Dramatic Day 1 In Perth
Earlier in the match on Day 1 at Perth, India won the toss and opted to bat first on a bowler-friendly Perth wicket. Australian trifecta of pacers – Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins along with help from all-rounder Mitchell Marsh were right on the money with their lines and lengths. Starc got Yashasvi Jaiswal out for a duck and Hazlewood sent Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli back in the hut for low scores as well. KL Rahul was looking set but Starc dismissed him as well.
Rishabh Pant forged a crucial partnership with debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy and made sure India ended with 150, which later turned out to be a formidable score.
Come the second innings, Bumrah and pacers Mohammed Siraj and Harshit Rana breathed fire as none of the Australian batters looked settled right from the start. Bumrah removed openers Nathan McSweeney and Usman Khawaja and then followed suit by removing Australia’s best batter in Steve Smith for a golden duck, only his second in the career.
India continued the attack and restricted Australia to 67-7 by the end of the day with Alex Carey and Starc on the crease. Notably, a staggering 17 wickets tumbled on the opening day at the Perth Stadium, marking the highest number of first-day dismissals in Australia since 1952. All 17 wickets were claimed by seamers who thrived on the bowler-friendly pitch.
