Heath Streak roped in by Scotland national cricket team as T20 consultant
After a successful stint with the KKR in the recently concluded IPL season, Streak is glad to join the Scottish side
Zimbabwe’s former captain and coach Heath Streak has been roped into the technical team of the Scotland cricket team for eight days during their Netherlands T20 tr-series.
After a successful stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the recently concluded season of Indian Premier League (IPL), Streak is glad to join the Scottish side.
In an interview given to Zimbabwe’s bulawayo24.com, Streak expressed that he is glad to get this opportunity to share his T20 experience with the Scotland team.
He said, “Grant Bradburn, the head coach of Scotland, asked me if I could share my T20 experience with them as a consultant to help the team as well as the coaches to evolve in that format and I was happy to share my knowledge and experience with them. I will be with the team for a short eight days as consultant during their triangular T20 series with hosts Netherlands and Ireland”
Streak also appreciated the recent performance of Scotland where they defeated England. He said, "Their historical first ODI win over England last Sunday is testament to their progress as a country in world cricket."
The Scotland cricket team would be looking forward to using the triangular series as the first phase of their preparations for the qualifiers for 2020 ICC World Twenty20 tournament in Australia.
Heath Streak has experienced coaching the teams like Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. However, he was dismissed from the post of Zimbabwe’s coach after the team failed to qualify for the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, to be held in England and Wales.
Speaking about his ousting, Streak said, “I have moved on but know I will play a part in rebuilding the future of Zimbabwe Cricket after the incumbent’s self-destruct.”
