Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard hit Dwayne Bravo for 29 runs in 1 over
Well aware of Bravo’s intentions of aiming nothing but the blockhole, Hardik went deep into his crease and used his wrists to perfection to take 16 runs off the last three balls to push the Mumbai Indians total to 170 for 5.
In T20s, sometimes an over can change the complexion of a match. It can even outdo the dominance and hard work of 19 overs, providing the opponents with a much-needed lift before the second innings. On Wednesday, Mumbai Indians were the fortunate ones and Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings were at the receiving ends of an over gone wrong.
CSK’s Dwayne Bravo, who had conceded only 20 runs in his 3 overs and also had a wicket to his name, gave away 29 runs in the last over. He was clobbered to all parts of the ground by Hardik Pandya.
The carnage though, started when Kieron Pollard deposited a high full-toss, which was also adjudged a no-ball deep into the stands. A drop catch in the deep square-leg boundary allowed Pollard to take three and brought Hardik on strike.

Here’s how the 20th over panned out
19.1: Full on middle, Pollard smashes it over mid on. It fell just short of Jadeja at long on. The batsmen take a single.
19.2: WIDE! Full and down the leg side, Pandya looks to flick but misses it.
19.2: Low full toss outside off, Pandya squeezes it towards point for a run.
19.3: NO BALL! SIX! Error and then a blunder from Bravo. Pollard's turn to dance. A full toss and that too above the waist. Caribbean power on display as Pollard swings it into orbit above mid-wicket. Replays show that it might have been a harsh call. That was not quite above the waist.
19.3: DROPPED ON THE FREE HIT! It does not matter in terms of wickets but Deepak Chahar has given Mumbai two extra runs. Outside off, short in length, Pollard looks to pull but gets a top edge. It is a simple catch for Chahar at deep mid-wicket but he puts it down. By the time he recovers and throws the ball, the batsmen take the third!
19.4: SIX! The helicopter Pandya! Hardik is pumped up. Full and outside off, Pandya swings it cleanly over mid-wicket!
19.5: FOUR! Excellent batting. Full and wide outside off, Hardik gets this over cover and makes it another boundary ball!
19.6: SIX! A flat hit on the final ball! Full and outside off, Hardik leans into this one and slices it over backward point. It goes all the way! 29 from the over as MUMBAI FINISH ON 170/5!
Before this, the pair of Pandya and Pollard had taken 16 runs from the 19th over bowled by Shardul Thakur. The hosts scored a whopping 45 runs in the last 2 overs of their innings.
Pandya finished with 25 off 8 balls and Pollard remained unbeaten on 17 off 7.
