The International Cricket Council on Thursday announced that an independent assessment has found the bowling action of Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez to be illegal and, as such, the off-spinner has been suspended from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect.

New Delhi: The International Cricket Council on Thursday announced that an independent assessment has found the bowling action of Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez to be illegal and, as such, the off-spinner has been suspended from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect.

It was found out during the assessment that Hafeez’s deliveries exceed the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under the regulations of the International Cricket Council.

Hafeez was reported during the third One-Day International against Sri Lanka, which was played on 18 October in Abu Dhabi and had undergone an independent assessment of his bowling action on November 1.

HafeeZ can re-apply for assessment after making the required changes in the bowling action.

Although, he will still be available for selection in the Pakistan team but just as a batsman.
