New Delhi: 16-year-old Jemimah Rodirgues struck a sparkling double hundred to lead Mumbai to a massive 285-run win over Saurashtra in the women’s U-19 one-day tournament at Aurangabad.
Jemimah backed her decision to bat first with a splendid 202-run inning off 163 balls laced with 24 boundaries.
Interestingly, no men’s cricketer has scored a double hundred in senior fifty over domestic tournament.
The right-hander put on a 300-run second wicket stand with SK Raut who was unfortunately run out for 98.
The Mumbai captain remained unbeaten on 202 as they piled on 347 for 2 in 50 overs.
Jemimah's staggering feat comes at a time when 17-year-old Prithvi Shaw is making headlines in senior cricket for Mumbai. He has already slammed four centuires in five first class games.
In reply, the Saurashtra innings crash-landed even before takeoff. They were bundled for 62. Amazingly, they took 39.4 overs to crawl to 62 with only Meghna Jambucha (25) getting to double figures.
For Mumbai, Sayali Satghare picked up 3 for 20 and Janvi Kate and Fatima Jaffer returned with 2 wickets a piece to complete a resounding win.
