Duleep Trophy Final, Day 1: Undakat 4-Wicket Haul Restricts India Green To 147/8 At Stumps
Unadkat was the hero with the ball for the Reds, returning with impressive figures of 4/58 in his 18 overs at a miserly economy rate of 3.22. Warrier, Avesh Khan and Sarwate all added one wicket each.
Saurashtra left-arm seamer Jaydev Unadkat scalped four wickets on the opening day of the 2019 Duleep Trophy final to help India Red restrict India Green to 147/8 at Stumps at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
Opting to bat, India Green innings could never get a momentum as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Unadkat dealt the opening blow for the Red in in the seventh over when he trapped captain Faiz Fazal lbw for just 12. Number three batsman Dhruv Shorey looked quite promising in his brief stint at the crease scoring 23 off 37, but failed to build on his start after his stay was cut short by Sandeep Warrier in the 17th over.
In the following over, Siddhesh Lad became Unadkat’s next victim and departed for a golden duck. Akshdeep Nath then played a breezy knock of 29 off 46 deliveries, studded with five boundaries before he fell to Vidarbha spinner Aditya Sarwate in the 32nd over. Akshay Wadkar was then cleaned up by Unadkat, who returned later to dismiss Rajesh Mohanty for nought — the last wicket of the day — thus completing his four-wicket haul.
At stumps, Punjab batsman Mayank Markande was batting on 32 with Tanveer-ul-Haq giving him company on 8.
