David Beckham Likely To Grace IND vs NZ ODI World Cup Semi Final At Wankhede: Report

David Beckham could be sitting alongside the likes of Sachin Tendulkar during the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 semifinal at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 15 (Wednesday).

Former English footballer David Beckham is expected to attend the India vs New Zealand semi-final clash of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium alongside cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and various celebrities. Beckham, on a three-day visit to India as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, is likely to mark his presence at the Wankhede for the semi-final.

The same has been claimed in media reports carried by RevSportz and News18. The VVIP gallery is anticipated to host several former cricketers, film personalities, and sports stars for the pivotal match between India and New Zealand. The Mancheter United legend's visit to India is part of his role as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, coinciding with the International Cricket Council's partnership with UNICEF to empower women and girls and promote inclusion and gender equality through cricket.

India Only Unbeatean Team In World Cup 2023 Round-Robin Stage

India have exhibited exceptional performance throughout the tournament, maintaining an unbeaten streak of nine games. Led by Rohit Sharma, the team secured the top spot in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 standings with 18 points and an impressive net run rate (NRR) of 2.570.

Having finished at the pinnacle of the standings, India will face New Zealand, who secured the fourth position on the points table. India initiated their campaign with a victory over Australia, followed by wins against Afghanistan, arch-rival Pakistan, Bangladesh, New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and the Netherlands.

Their league stage concluded with a convincing 160-run win over the Netherlands, preserving their flawless record in the ongoing tournament. On the other hand, New Zealand's fourth-place finish eliminated Pakistan and Afghanistan from contention. The semi-final clash poses a significant challenge for the Indian team, historically facing difficulties in major tournaments over the past decade.

Despite India's impeccable record in the current World Cup, it's noteworthy that they have struggled against New Zealand in ICC knockout games, losing all three encounters, including the 2019 World Cup semifinal. However, in the ongoing tournament, they secured a four-wicket victory against New Zealand in the league match at Dharamsala.
