Controversy At Photo Session: Bangladesh Team Withdraws After Harmanpreet Kaur Asks Them To Call Umpires
Harmanpreet went on to smash the stumps with her bat before ranting the on-field umpires and also vented out her frustration at the post-match presentation ceremony.
The Bangladesh women’s cricket team walked off the field during the prize distribution ceremony after the third ODI against India that ended on a tie and the series finished 1-1 in Dhaka on Saturday. Bangladesh led by Nigar were at the other end when India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur showed her anger towards the umpire for their poor decisions during India's run chase.
Harmanpreet went on to smash the stumps with her bat before ranting the on-field umpires and also vented out her frustration at the post-match presentation ceremony. She even called the umpiring decisions pathetic and then also insulted the Bangladeshi players when both teams were posing with the shared series trophy.
"Why you are only here? You haven't tied the match. The umpires did it for you. Call them up! We better have a photo with them as well,” Harmanpreet was allegedly heard telling her Bangladeshi counterpart Nigar Sultana.

In return, after seeing Harmanpreet’s behavior, Sultana decided to step away from the photo session with her teammates. The Indian skipper also said that it was because of some pathetic umpiring the game ended on a draw instead of an Indian victory.
Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana castigated her counterpart’s behavior after the presentation ceremony. She went on to advise Harmanpreet to show ‘better manners’.
"It is totally her problem. I have nothing to do with it. As a player, she could have shown better manners," Sultana said in the press conference.
“As a player, she could have shown better manners. I can’t tell you what happened, but it didn’t feel right to be there with my team. It wasn’t the right environment. That’s why we went back. Cricket is a game of discipline and respect.
After all the drama that transpired, Harmanpreet was fined 75 percent of her match fees. She will also get four demerit points, three for an on-field incident and one for comments against the umpires.
