After humiliating the Aussies in the ODI format, England outfoxed the visitors in the shortest format as well as they clinched a stunning 28-run victory in the one-off game at Edgbaston on Wednesday.

Jos Buttler, who was promoted to the top, continued his sensational form, scoring his half-century in just 22 deliveries – the fastest in England’s T20 history.

In his 30-ball innings, the wicket-keeper batsman smashed 6 boundaries while sent the ball sailing over the ropes on 5 occasions.

Rashid Khan bowled brilliantly for the hosts as he clinched three crucial wickets in his 4-over spell, leaking just 27 runs.

For the visitors, skipper Aaron Finch waged a lone battle, scoring a magnificent 84 from 41 balls with 7 fours and 6 sixes. He also stitched 86-run stand with Ashton Agar for the 6th wicket but his gutsy performance was not enough to guide Australia to victory.

Thrashing at Edgbaston means Australia depart England without a single win, losing all 6 fixtures, across the limited-overs format in the United Kingdom.

Australia will now travel to Zimbabwe for a T20 tri-series which also includes Pakistan.

England, on the other hand, will lock horns with India in the three-match t20 series before facing off in ODI’s and Test series.
