IND vs ENG: Ben Stokes Pays 'Massive Respect' To English Fan Who Attended Match Despite Being Hospitalised Day Before

England captain, Ben Stokes, lauded a fan on social media who, despite battling illness, attended the stadium in Visakhapatnam to cheer for the touring team on Day 4 of the 2nd IND vs ENG Test.

India vs England 2nd Test: The vibrant atmosphere in the first two Tests of the ongoing series between Rohit Sharma-led India and Ben Stokes-led England has been significantly enhanced by the enthusiastic presence of England's travelling fans. Particularly, the Barmy Army, a well-known group of England cricket supporters. They have made their mark by attending the matches in both Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. Notably, a member of their group was hospitalised owing to dehydration during the second Test, but still managed to come to the stadium to cheer the visiting team.

The Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on February 5 (Monday) witnessed the spirited presence of England fans as their team aimed to pursue a challenging target of 399. Ending Day 3 of the 2nd Test at 67 for 1, England provided hope to their supporters, fueling the belief that a ‘BazBall’ miracle was within reach on Monday.

England Fan's Determination Despite Facing Health Issues

The fans enjoyed the experience throughout all four days of the match. Remarkably, one England fan went the extra mile, showing exceptional dedication by being present at the stadium on Monday despite having been hospitalised the day before. This demonstrated the unwavering support for Ben Stokes and the team as they sought to create a memorable comeback in the series.

The Barmy Army revealed in a social media post on X that Dan, the dedicated fan, required medical attention due to food poisoning and dehydration on Sunday. Despite facing health challenges, Dan showed extraordinary determination, heading straight to the cricket ground on Monday after being discharged from the hospital, as mentioned by the fan group.

England captain, Ben Stokes, acknowledged and appreciated the remarkable effort made by Dan, expressing his gratitude with a special message on social media. Stokes recognized and celebrated the fan's resilience and commitment, highlighting the special connection between the players and their passionate supporters.

“Massive respect ✊ best fans in the world 🙌 hope you are on the mend Dan,” wrote Ben Stokes in a post on X.
