Azharuddin's message to Imran: Leading a country and a cricket team are different
The former Indian captain has a strong suggestion for the impending Pakistan PM, Imran Khan
Imran Khan’s recent political success has created a huge buzz in the international cricket fraternity. A bunch of current and former cricketers have wished the legendary Pakistani cricketer turned politician while in India, it’s being expected that Imran might take some bold decisions like he did while leading his nation’s cricket team, once he becomes the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Congress leader and former Indian captain Mohammed Azharuddin opened up and stated that there’s a huge ‘difference in leading a nation and a cricket team’. He said,
“The decisions he took on the cricket field were very positive, very bold and individualistic decisions as a captain. He should do that only (once he becomes Pak PM).”
“Leading a country and leading a cricket team are totally two different things. So, we need to see what he will do,” the former Indian captain added.
Speaking on the chances of any betterment in Indo-Pak ties after Imran comes in power, Azhar said, "First of all, there are so many problems in his country. First, he has to solve those problems. Then only he can look to solve other problems."
Both Azhar and Imran led their sides against each other on several occasions. Moreover, the 1992 World Cup was the first instance when India beat Pakistan in a World Tournament and these two veterans were the skippers.
