Australia wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy broke the record set by former India captain MS Dhoni for maximum dismissals by a wicketkeeper in T20 internationals. Healy crossed Dhoni's tally of 91 during the second T20I between Australia women and New Zealand women at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane on Sunday. So far, MS Dhoni had held the record with 57 catches and 34 stumpings in 98 matches. Healy, who was involved in a stumping and a catch during the 2nd T20I, now has 92 dismissals in 114 matches.
The top 10 list is dominated by women cricketers with India's Tania Bhatia catching up with at a quick pace, as per the Indian Today report. The third spot is retained by Sarah Taylor of England, who recorded 74 dismissals from 90 matches, while Rachael Priest holds the fourth position with 72 dismissals in 75 matches in T20Is.
Healy recorded the feat when she stumped Amy Satterthwaite and then caught Lauren Down behind the stumps to take her total dismissals to 92 in 114 matches. Australia won the match by eight wickets, taking 2-0 lead in the three-match in T20I series against New Zealand.
Former India captain MS Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in August, is considered one of the best wicketkeepers of the modern day cricket. Dhoni also went on to achieve crucial innings lower down the order and also considered one of the best finishers of the time.
Dhoni is currently playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Meanwhile Healy who played 114 T20Is for the Southern Stars (Australia) currently has 92 dismissals to her achievement.
After the T20I series against New Zealand , Healy will be playing for Australia in the upcoming three-match ODI series against the same opponent.
