Pakistan captain Babar Azam has started off Asia Cup 2023 in a sensational manner scoring a hundred in the tournament opener against Nepal in Multan on Wednesday (August 30). While the World's number 1 ranked ODI side had started as overwhelming favourites against Nepal who were taking on Pakistan for the first time, the Rohit Paudel-led side did make Pakistan work hard for the runs especially initially. Pakistan were at one stage 25/2 and later 124/4 but Babar slammed a superb hundred to ensure that they get on the way of posting a formidable first innings total.

Babar got to the landmark off 109 deliveries. He also became the fastest to get to the 19th ODI ton in terms of innings. After reaching his hundred, he raised his bat before bowing down in prayer. Reviving from regular wickets, Pakistan were 225/2 in 41.2 overs when their captain to the three-figures mark.
He would now look to continue his form into the rest of the tournament with Pakistan set to take on India in their next match on September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
