We prepared for Kuldeep, Chahal but Jadhav knocked us out: Sarfraz Ahmed

Kedar Jadhav picked up 3 crucial wickets to push the Pakistani batting line-up to backfoot

Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed blamed his batsmen for the poor performance which led them to an 8-wicket defeat against India on Wednesday at the Dubai International Stadium. He openly revealed that his team came prepared to face Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal but Kedar Jadhav spoiled their strategy.

After a disappointing loss to the arch-rivals, the Pakistan skipper seemed running out of words to describe their failure.

“Pakistan toiled hard with the bat as they could only put 162 runs on the board at a cost of 10 wickets. In return, India chased down the target like a boss, with 126 balls to spare,” said Sarfraz in the post-match presentation.

When asked about their struggle against wrist spin, Sarfraz said, “Tayyari to kit hi humne un dono ki par out to koi teesra kar gaya [We prepared for the two main spinners (Kuldeep and Chahal), but got out to the third one (Jadhav)]. But it’s a part of the game and we will try not to repeat it in the next match.”

Sarfraz stated that this jolt is a wake-up call for his team ahead of the super fours. He said, “It’s a good sign for the team as they will get a wake-up call ahead of the next round. It’s a chance to learn from the mistakes and move ahead.”
