Asia Cup 2018: Elated Rohit gives credits to his bowlers for thrashing Pakistan

Credit goes to the Indian bowlers and the opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan who maintained the winning spree and came with another superb show to outclass Pakistan.

High on confidence, India stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma applauded for his bowlers after hammering arch-rival Pakistan in Asia Cup Super four tie on Sunday. While chasing a target of 238 runs, India registered a comfortable nine-wicket win to enter the finale.

The credit goes to the Indian bowlers and the opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan who maintained the winning spree and came with another superb show to outclass Pakistan.

“Challenging conditions, we knew it was going to be tough. I don't want to take any credit from the boys, all of them showed great character, well done to the boys,” said Rohit Sharma in the post-match press conference.

“Bumrah has matured as a bowler now has played a great amount of cricket and he understands his bowling. Bhuvneshwar too did exactly the same. We never wanted to let them off the hook and our spinners have been magnificent throughout the tournament. They kept taking wickets and when you do that, you win,” added Rohit.

Appreciating the efforts of his opening partner, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit said, “With Shikhar, I don't need to talk much. It's important to let him be himself. We have batted enough to know each other to start off like that and we clearly know our roles.”

“The most important thing was to bat as long as possible and that's what we did. Nothing is easy [hitting sixes] and when it comes off it looks nice. I've gotten out playing those shots but it’s important to put pressure on the bowlers Pakistan have a great bowling line-up and it's important to keep them under pressure. They've troubled us in the past,” he added.

After this terrific victory, India will now take on Afghanistan in their last Super Four tie here on Tuesday.
