Anderson in search of new tactics to dismiss Kohli in 2nd Test

.

The rivalry between Indian captain Virat Kohli and England veteran pace bowler James Anderson was undoubtedly one of the highlights during the recently concluded First Test match at Edgbaston. Though India lost the game by to the hosts by 31 runs, Kohli won his individual bout against Anderson.

The Indian skipper displayed a commendable batting performance by scoring 200 runs in the First Test as Anderson was not able to get the skipper out in either inning of the game, unlike how things had worked out for him during the 2014 series.

However, the England great who is just 20 wickets short of becoming the highest wicket-taking fast bowler seemed to convey the strong mutual respect he shares with Kohli.

“I felt good bowling to Virat and my plans worked well. I might have dismissed him a few times with some plays and misses plus a dropped catch. I’ve been told only 17 of his 149 runs in the first innings came off my bowling. But the fact is, I didn’t get him out and he scored a century and a half-century. So I’m not getting carried away! In fact, it makes me even more determined to be on top form in the Second Test at Lord’s,” Anderson wrote in his column for The Sun.

The 36-year-old seamer said that he is not displeased with his previous performance at Birmingham and will definitely try to use a few new tricks against Kohli at Lord’s for their second Test from Thursday, August 9.
