J&K Para Cricket Captain Amir Hussain Lone: Man Who Bowls With Feet And Bats With Neck And Shoulder

Amir Hussain Lone is presently the captain of Jammu & Kashmir's Para cricket team.

Amir Hussain Lone, a 34-year-old differently-abled cricketer from Waghama village in Bijbehara, serves as the captain of Jammu & Kashmir's Para cricket team. His cricket journey began in 2013 when a teacher discovered his talent and introduced him to Para Cricket. Despite losing both his arms in an accident at the age of 8 in his father's mill, Amir has emerged as an inspirational figure in the world of cricket. His playing style involves bowling with his feet and batting by holding the bat between his shoulder and neck.

Despite facing challenges, Amir's resilience and passion for the game continue to inspire others. He has expressed that the government did not provide assistance during the challenging period after his accident. In a recent video uploaded by the official X handle of ANI, the cricketer can be seen batting while holding the bat between his left shoulder and his neck. He can then be seen bowling using his right leg by holding the ball with his feet.

'Not Even The Government Supported Me'

Following the accident, Amir discussed the challenges he faced, emphasizing the lack of government assistance during that period. “After the accident, I didn’t lose hope and worked hard. I can do everything by myself and I am not dependent on anyone. No one helped me after my accident. Not even the government supported me, but my family was always there for me,” stated Amir, as quoted by ANI.

"I have been applauded for my game everywhere and I think its because of god that my hard work paid off because bowling from the legs is really difficult but I have learned all the skils and techniques. I do every task on my own and I am not dependent on anyone except god," the cricketer added.

Sachin Tendulkar and Ashish Nehra are amongst the notable personalities who have recognized Amir for his talent and determination. Notably, in a gesture of appreciation, Nehra had invited the cricketer to attend the 2016 T20 World Cup semifinal between India and West Indies at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
