The second day of the Afghanistan vs New Zealand one-off Test match at the Greater Noida Sports Complex has been called off even though there was no rainfall on both the days. The play was called off as the outfild was not deemed fit to play despite several attempts made to dry the surface.
Desperate measures were taken that included cutting a portion of the grass from the net-practice area and bringing that onto the ground. In addition, electrical fans were also used to dry the wet patches of the field. None of that, however, could get the pitch and the outfield ready for cricket with the umpires calling the day off after an inspection.

Much like Day 1, there was no rain on Day 2 but even then there was no play possible adding to the cricticism of the venue. To make matters worse for the facility which was once banned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), a catering staffer was seen washing the utensils with the pictures going viral on social media.

Such was the condition of the ground that Afghanistan players did not even report to the venue while the Kiwi stars reached only when they at about 1 pm (IST) on Tuesday (September 10). However, teams will have to wait for another day to see some cricket action, the first one between these two teams and the maiden Test match at this sports ground which hasn't turned out to be a memorable one for them so far.
