Aaron Finch misplaces his kitbag, misses match against Mumbai Indians
New Delhi: The tenth edition of IPL has been unique more for its bizarre incidents rather than the cricketing action. Whether it was the umpiring goof up which saw David Warner taking strike despite hitting a boundary off the last ball of the previous over or Ravi Shastri forgetting to announce the player of the match, IPL has been a hub of unusual things right from its onset.
A player is unavailable for selection for injury, personal loss, breaching of code of conduct or health issues. This set of general causes went for a toss when Gujarat Lions captain Suresh Raina revealed the reason for Aaron Finch’s unavailability against Mumbai Indians on Sunday’s IPL encounter. The Australian apparently misplaced his kitbag and it did not arrive on time and hence had to sit out from the all important match against Mumbai.
“We have two changes. Finchy misses out; unfortunately his kitbag did not arrive. Jason Roy replaces him,” said Raina at toss time.
As bizarre as it may sound but it really was the reason behind Aaron Finch’s exclusion from the playing XI.
With the tournament not even half way through, one can possibly expect more such jaw dropping incidents, after all the IPL is a blend of entertainment and cricket. So far it has lived up to its reputation.
