New Delhi: A complaint has been registered against Gautam Gambhir for allegedly ‘hoarding’ Fabiflu, a medicine used to treat mild-to-moderate Covid-19 disease. New Delhi-based resident, Leher Sethi has registered this complaint against Gambhir. The 39-year old MP, on Twitter had himself informed about acquiring Fabiflu from his East Delhi office, free of cost.

Leher Sethi, who has lodged this complaint, is a motivational TEDx speaker. She informed about it on Twitter. She said: “I have filed a complaint against @GautamGambhir for hoarding Fabiflu at a time when Delhi Residents are scrambling for it!

This is deeply concerning also b’cos Pharmacies & chemists provide medication to patients 24/7 while Mr Gambhir is only making it avaiable from 10 am-5 pm.”

Gautam Gambhir’s tweet about having Fabiflu stock.

Gautam Gambhir is currently part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) broadcasting team with the Star Sports Network. Recently on the channel, during the post-match IPL show, Gautam Gambhir called Chennai Super Kings’ plan to pick Kolkata Knight Riders’ Andre Russell’s wicket a “fluke”. The cricketer-turned-MP has been vocal about a lot of issues on Twitter. He also supports programs that are related to the upliftment of the transgender community.

He was also criticized on Twitter before the complaint was registered.

But, What is Fabiflu?

According to PharmEasy.com, Fabiflu is ‘an antiviral medicine containing Favipiravir as its active ingredient. It is used to treat mild-to-moderate COVID-19 disease in adults under restricted emergency use. This medicine stops the replication of the virus.'

Gautam Gambhir has also given a justification after the complaint. Read his reply in this ANI Tweet:

"If a few 100 strips of tablets obtained from a distributor are being given for free, then, can it be called hoarding? Is my obtaining a few strips of Fabiflu causing the shortage? You can call me wrong but I'll do everything to save lives of people," BJP MP Gautam Gambhir said.
