CWG 2022: India's Lovepreet Singh Bags Bronze Medal In Men's 109 Kg Weightlifting Event

CWG 2022: India's Lovepreet Singh has bagged a bronze medal in the men's 109 KG weightlifting event. Lovepreet completed all six lifts and managed a total of 355 kg. Nyabeyeu of Cameroon won the gold with a total lift of 361 kg while Jack Opeloge of Samoa won silver with a total lift of 358 kg.
This is the 9th medal from the weight lifters in the Commonwealth Games 2022. With Lovepreet's latest bronze medal, India's total medal count now stands at 14 with 5 Gold, 5 Silver and 5 Bronze medals.
On the final day of the weightlifting event at Birmingham Games 2022, Lovepreet lifted a best of 163 in the snatch to go with 192kg in Clean & Jerk to finish on the podium.
24-year-old Punjab weightlifter Lovepreet Singh en route to a CWG medal set a new national record of 192 kg in clean and jerk.
"I feel good, this was my first major competition. I did my best today, live on the stage. Would like to dedicate my medal to my country & my family," Weightlifter Lovepreet Singh told news agency ANI after winning the bronze medal.
