Champions Trophy: Pakistan fined for slow over-rate
New Delhi: Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed (61) cracked a gritty unbeaten fifty as Pakistan survived some tense moments before notching up a thrilling three-wicket win over Sri Lanka in their must-win Group B match to enter the semifinals of the ICC Champions Trophy.
The Sarfraz led side was has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate against Sri Lanka during its last Group B fixture in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in Cardiff on Monday.
Pakistan have been ruled to be one over short of its target when time allowances were taken into consideration. Players have been fines 10 percent of their match fees for every over their team fails to bowl in the allotted. The skipper is charged double the amount.
Sarfraz Ahmed has been charged 20 percent of his match fees and he has pleaded guilty to the offence and there will be no need for a formal hearing.
Pakistan are now all set to face hosts England in the semis which is scheduled on Wednesday.
