T20 Cricket Set To Resume Amid Covid-19 As CPL Begins From Aug 18 In Trinidad & Tobago

The CPL which has been graced by major T20 stalwarts of the world since its inception, will once again witness the the best in their class in the shorter format like Rashid Khan, Chris Lynn, Carlos Brathwaite, Dwayne Bravo, Alex Hales and Kieron Pollard being part of the tournament, a statement on the tournament website said.

After the mush awaited resumption of Test cricket post a long gap of nearly 117-days, fans would soon witness all the thrills and frills of the fast paced T20 cricket as the 2020 edition of the Caribbean Premier League will be hosted in Trinidad & Tobago between August 18 and September 10. The flagship T20 league of the Windies cricket will be the first high profile T20 league to get underway amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Amid the Covid19 threat looming large all over the nation, the tournament organizers are leaving no stoned upturned to keep the safety and health of the players in mind with requisite social distancing guidelines for all the players who are part of the six franchisee competing in the tournament. The CPL which has been graced by  major T20 stalwarts of the world since its inception, will once again witness the the best in their class in the shorter format like Rashid Khan, Chris Lynn, Carlos Brathwaite, Dwayne Bravo, Alex Hales and Kieron Pollard being part of the tournament, a statement on the tournament website said. "All teams and officials will be housed in one hotel and everyone will be subject to strict quarantine protocols for the first two weeks they are in the country. Everyone travelling from overseas will be tested for COVID-19, before departure and then again on arrival in Trinidad," the statement read. "Teams and officials will be put into "households" where social distancing will need to be in place. There will be smaller clusters within each household where these measures can be relaxed. However, if any member of this cluster display signs of COVID-19 at any time during the tournament, all members of that cluster will be expected to self-isolate for a period of 14 days from the time that a member of that cohort first shows symptoms.
