Benzema Breaks Chelsea Hearts By Scoring Late Winner For Real, Villarreal Stun Bayern | UCL Review

Match went into extra-time where Karim Benzema's header in the 96th-minute sealed the deal for Real. Ancelotti became the first manager to qualify for a UCL Semi-final in four separate decades.

UEFA Champions League: It was one of the most memorable Champions League nights on Wednesday where Real Madrid were facing Chelsea at Bernabeu to save a two-goal lead, while Bayern were facing a spirited Villlarreal with one-goal advantage. 

Two late winners - one by Karim Benzema (for Madrid) and other by Chukwueze (for Villarreal) - define the story of the Champions League quarter-final, so far. It was one of those nights where the fans were kept guessing till the final whistle blew.  

Real Madrid Vs Chelsea

Lets us first look at the main match-up at the Champions League stage. Chelsea fans were just about awaiting the greatest comeback the club has ever seen, but it was not to be the case as Carlo Ancelotti's Madrid side prevailed at the end of extra time. 

Madrid came into the match with a two-goal advantage. Chelsea were onlevel terms by the 51st minute. Timo Werner gave Chelsea fans, a staggering chance of settig up one of the greatest comebacks in UCL history. Chelsea were 3-4 ahead on aggregate from two legs. Then, it was Luka Modric, yet again who made a superb pass from inside the foot to provide an assist to the substitute Rodrygo. Score was 4-4 at the end of 90.

Bayern Munich Vs Villarreal

This match was a tactical genius by Unai Emery, the manager of Villarreal to beat a Bayern Munich side that has been bulldozing most of the teams coming their way. 

Lewandowski's lone goal was not enough to go past a defensive Villarreal side.

Villarreal and Madrid proceed through to the semis. Now two teams from Man City, Liverpool, Benfica and Atletico Madrid would be going through. The match starts at 12:30 am on Thursday as per IST.
