New Delhi: Ex-India skipper and current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly's daughter Sana Ganguly, along with three other family members have tested Covid-19 positive, ANI reported.
Sana and other family members have isolated themselves and are not showing any symptoms. Sourav's wife Dona Ganguly fortunately tested negative for Covid.
Earlier, BCCI boss Sourav Ganguly himself had tested positive for Covid-19 on December 27 and later it was reported that the 49-year-old was infected with the Delta variant of Coronavirus.
News agency PTI reported that Ganguly will remain in home isolation for two weeks after getting discharged from Woodlands Nursing Home, last month.
In January 2021, Ganguly was admitted to the same Woodlands Nursing Home after suffering a cardiac arrest. The cricketing legend had undergone angioplasty at the time.
Sudden surge in Covid-19 infection across India had led to speculations regarding Ranji Throphy's 2021-22 fate, but Ganguly had then confirmed that the country's premier First-class tournament will go ahead as planned.
This year, the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season was slated to start from January 13. However, days after Ganguly's statement, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to postpone Ranji Trophy, Col C K Nayudu Trophy & Senior Women’s T20 League for 2021-22 season in view of rising COVID cases.
Just a few days ahead of the tournament, some players and staff members from teams of Mumbai and Bengal Ranji camps tested positive for Covid-19.
Mumbai Ranji team's all-rounder Shivam Dube and team's video analyst tested positive for Covid-19. In Bengal Ranji camp, six players and one staff member tested positive for Covid-19.
