Shoaib Malik's teammates, Rangpur Riders' players, decided to make it a memorable moment for him as they gave the Pakistani legend a guard of honour on the field when he walked out to bat.
Pakistan's star all-rounder Shoaib Malik attained a massive milestone when he took the field for Rangpur Riders in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2023. Malik has become the first Pakistani cricketer to play 500 matches in T20 cricket, while becoming only the third cricketer in the world to do this. Notably, the senior Pakistani batter is the only cricketer in the world to have played more than 400 List A and T20 matches.
Malik's teammates, Rangpur Riders' players, decided to make it a memorable moment for him as they gave the Pakistani cricketing legend a guard of honour on the field when he walked out to bat. In this match, Malik hit a six and returned to the pavilion for just 7 off 5 balls. However, his team won the match by successfully chasing down the 131-run target.

Shoaib Malik has so far played 500 T20 matches in his career and scored 12287 runs during this period. Dwayne Bravo (556 matches) and Kieron Pollard are ahead of him in terms of playing the most matches in T20 cricket. West Indies legend Kieron Pollard is the cricketer who has played the most matches in T20 cricket history. The all-rounder has played 614 matches so far.
With 12,287 runs in 464 innings of 500 T20 matches, Malik is the second highest run-scorer in this format.
When it comes to bowling, Shoaib Malik has so far picked 162 wickets in 266 innings. Malik, who holds the record of playing the maximum (124) T20 Internationals for Pakistan, has retired from Tests and ODIs. The 41-year-old is still hopeful of making a comeback in Pakistan's T20 team.
