BAN vs SL: Three Members Of Sri Lankan Contingent Test COVID-19 Positive Ahead Of First ODI

According to media reports, the Sri Lankan team management is awaiting the second RT-PCR report of those who tested Covid-19 positive.

Dark clouds loom over the three-match ODI series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka after three members of Sri Lanka contingent -- Sri Lankan's bowling coach Chaminda Vaas, Isru Udana and Shiren Fernando -- tested positive for Coronavirus, hours before the SL vs BAN 1st ODI today, PTI reported. The three-match ODI series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka is part of the World Cup Super League.

All three matches of the ODI series are to be played at Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. The second ODI of the series is to be played on 25 May and the third on 28th. According to media reports, the Sri Lankan team management is awaiting the second RT-PCR report of those who tested Covid-19 positive.

"Two players and a coach from Sri Lanka's contingent have tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the first ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka," ESPNcricinfo reported. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has ruled out the possibility of SL vs BAN 1st ODI match being called off, the website reported.

Meanwhile, the ongoing dispute between Sri Lankan players and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is not yet over. Players have not signed the new contracts they find "unfair and non-transparent".

Sri Lanka captain Kushal Perera also admitted that it is a matter of concern for the players as well.  But right now the team's focus is only on the ODI series against Bangladesh. Ahead of team's departure for Bangladesh, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) offered contracts to 24 players
