Australia To Tour Pakistan For First Time In 24 Years; Know Complete Schedule

Australia will play three Tests, three ODIs and one T20 International on this tour. The first Test match between Pakistan and Australia will be played in Karachi from March 3 to 7.

New Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced the complete schedule of Australia's tour of Pakistan in March 2022. Australia's tour of Pakistan is highly important for Pakistan as just before the T20 World Cup, New Zealand had cancelled the series against Pakistan citing security threat, while England had then refused to tour Pakistan.

After 24 years, the Australian team is touring Pakistan. Last time Australia toured Pakistan was in 1998.

Australia will play three Tests, three ODIs and one T20 International on this tour. The first Test match between Pakistan and Australia will be played in Karachi from March 3 to 7, the second in Rawalpindi from March 12 to 16 and the third in Lahore from March 21 to 25.

After this, three ODIs are to be played between the two teams in Lahore on March 29, March 31, and April 2 in sequence. The only T20 International match will be played in Lahore on April 5. The three-match Test series will be part of the ICC World Test Championship, while the three-match ODI series will be part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.

"It pleases me no end that we'll be engaged in a three-Test match series, connoisseurs delight," Raja said in a statement.

"Australia are one of the high-performing sides and them playing in our backyard for the first time after a gap of 24 years will be a special treat for the fans.

"Likewise, it will be a great opportunity for the Australia cricketers to not only play at our iconic venues but also feel and enjoy the respect, love and hospitality that this great country offers, something which most of their previous generation of cricketers missed out by playing offshore."
