'I Won’t Go Into Detail': Pat Cummins On Sharing Secrets With Cricket Australia
During an interview, Pat Cummins was asked whether the selection panel of Cricket Australia had asked him to confess if he has any secrets, before taking Test team's charge as captain.
New Delhi: Just two weeks ahead of the high-profile Ashes, star speedster Pat Cummins was appointed as Australian cricket team's Test captain as Tim Paine stepped down from captaincy over 'sexting scandal'. The controversy had erupted after Paine's chats with a woman colleague back in the year 2007 were recently made public.
Cummins has been made the 47th Test captain of Australia. It is for the first time after 65 years, a fast-bowler has been made captain of Australia's Test squad.
Before Cummins, in the year 1956, fast bowler Ray Lindwall was selected as Australia's Test captain for a match during Australia's tour of India. The speedster is accompanied by Steve Smith as vice-captain, who was suspended three years ago in 2018 following a ball-tampering scandal.
Meanwhile, during an interview with a news channel, Pat Cummins was asked whether the selection panel of Cricket Australia had asked him to confess if he has any secrets, before taking Test team's charge as captain. Reacting to this question, Cummins said he had a really comfortable discussion with Cricket Australia panel.
“Yeah, there were a couple of questions. I won’t go into detail. It was a really good open discussion. We talked about a lot of different things. So, we both left it feeling really comfortable,” said Cummins while speaking to ABC sport.
Pat Cummins is currently at the top of the ICC Test Bowling Rankings. The 28-year-old has played 34 Test matches so far and has taken 164 wickets. He is the 10th fastest bowler to take 150 wickets in Test cricket. Cummins made his Test debut against South Africa on 17th November 2011 at the age of just 18.
